LangLandia is operated by Language Unlimited LLC ("LangLandia", "we", "us", "our"), 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the LangLandia game, our websites, and related services (together, the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy replaces all previous versions. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.
When you create an account we collect the username you choose and the identifier from the sign-in method you use. Account sign-in is handled through Google Firebase Authentication; depending on how you sign in, this gives us an account identifier and may give us the email address associated with that sign-in. We also record the language you are learning, your interface language, and the platform you play on (for example iOS or Android).
Playing the game generates data that we store against your account so your progress persists: experience points and level, your grade or difficulty tier, the beasts you own and their progress, the number of questions you have answered correctly and incorrectly, your longest streak, achievements, league and tournament results, clan membership, and similar records of what you have done in the game. This is what makes leaderboards, PvP matchmaking, LangLympics results, and Clan Wars work.
If you create or join a class, we store the class name, the class join password, and which accounts belong to that class, so that class members can be grouped together for classroom competitions and exams. A class organiser can see the in-game progress of the accounts in their class.
The Service includes chat, comments, and clan communication. We store the messages and other content you submit so we can display it, moderate it, and enforce our Terms of Service. Please do not put sensitive personal information into public chat or comments.
Some features — including AI conversation practice, AI-generated stories, chatbot help, and spoken audio — work by sending your input to an external AI provider, which returns the response you see or hear. When you use these features, the text you type (and, for voice features, your speech or the text to be spoken) is transmitted to that provider for the sole purpose of generating that response. We do not use these providers to build advertising profiles, and we do not send them your real-world identity. Our current AI providers are listed under "Service providers" below.
If you buy a Fluency Pass subscription or any other in-app item, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google through their in-app purchase systems. Your payment card details go to Apple or Google, never to us — we never see or store your card number. We receive and store a record that the purchase happened, what was purchased, and its status, so we can grant your entitlement and provide support.
If you request a payout — for example a prize or affiliate payment — we collect the PayPal email address you give us and the reason for the request, for the sole purpose of sending that payment.
Our servers automatically record technical information when you use the Service: your IP address, the approximate city and country derived from that IP address, your device operating system and app version, the date and time of your activity, the referral or deep link that brought you to the app, and diagnostic information if the app encounters an error. We use this to operate and secure the Service, to detect cheating and abuse, and to understand which countries and platforms our players use.
We derive only an approximate city-level location from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
For clarity, we do not collect your date of birth, your precise location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone audio outside of features you actively use, your payment card numbers, or any special category data such as health, biometric, or political information. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: performance of a contract for everything needed to run your account and deliver the game; legitimate interests for security, anti-cheat, moderation, and product improvement; consent where we ask for it, which you may withdraw at any time; and legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records.
We use a small number of providers to run the Service. They may process your information only on our instructions and only to perform the work we have asked them to do.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of LangLandia, our players, or the public. If our business is ever sold or merged, account information may transfer with it; we would tell you first.
Language Unlimited LLC operates an internal production tool that uses YouTube API Services to publish videos we have produced to our own YouTube channel.
By using our services that rely on YouTube API Services, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
What is accessed. Access is granted through Google OAuth 2.0 by the owner of our own YouTube channel, using the youtube.upload and youtube.readonly scopes. That access is used solely to upload videos we produced to our own channel and to check the processing status of those uploads. We do not access, collect, or process YouTube data belonging to any other user, channel, or viewer, and no LangLandia player data is sent to YouTube.
What is stored. We store the OAuth refresh token for our own channel, held on a single company-controlled machine, together with the video identifier and processing status of videos we have uploaded. Nothing else obtained from the YouTube API is retained.
Retention and deletion. These records are kept only while the tool is in active use, and are deleted when access is revoked or when the record is no longer needed.
Revoking access. Access granted to this application can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Revoking access immediately and permanently ends the tool's ability to reach the YouTube Data API.
LangLandia does not display third-party advertising. We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar United States state privacy laws. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
We are based in the United States and our servers and service providers are located in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from that of your own country. Where we transfer personal data out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
You can delete your LangLandia account at any time. You can do this from within the app, or by emailing langlandiagame@gmail.com from the address associated with your account, or telling us your username.
When you delete your account we delete your account record, your progress, and the personal information attached to it. We will complete deletion within 30 days. Some information is kept longer where the law requires it — in particular purchase records needed for tax and accounting — and content you posted publicly may remain visible in an anonymised form where removing it would break other players' records. Backups are overwritten on a rolling cycle and are fully purged within 90 days.
To request deletion of data without deleting your whole account, email us at the same address and tell us what you want removed.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct it if it is wrong; delete it; obtain a portable copy; object to or restrict certain processing; and withdraw consent you previously gave.
If you are in California, you additionally have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for behavioural advertising, there is nothing for you to opt out of, but you may still exercise every other right listed here.
To exercise any of these rights, email langlandiagame@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will ask you to verify that you control the account in question before we act, so that nobody else can make a request about your data. You may use an authorised agent. If you are in the EEA or the UK and you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
LangLandia is intended for people aged 13 and over. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that account and its data promptly. If you are a parent, guardian, or teacher and you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact langlandiagame@gmail.com and we will remove it.
If you use LangLandia's classroom features with students, you are responsible for ensuring that every student you enrol meets the minimum age of 13 and that you have any permission required by your school or by law before asking them to create accounts.
We use commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls limiting who can reach production data, and third-party authentication so that we do not store passwords ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.
The Service may contain links to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies before giving them your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will give notice in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
